First Days Of School

As a child I recall the first day of school always being the Tuesday after Labor Day. We'd suit up in our new fall clothes and head out just as the air was turning cooler. But here school goes back in session in the heat of summer, and it doesn't make any sense to even think about long sleeves or pants until term 1 is almost over. But even by those low standards, the first day of school this year was anticlimactic.
We had four kids going on five different school schedules, and exactly ONE of them went back on the first day of school. Maddie and Will were home to let the 7th graders and Freshmen find their way around. When he did attend the second day of school, Will ran off without a picture. So here is one from Labor Day. He's grown so big!
Sebastian is the only one who started school on the first day. He headed back for year four of English and Mandarin teaching. He had new teachers, but old friends in his class.
Maddie headed back for year four at PHS, excited to be sophomore now. She's all dressed up in duds her grandmother bought her out in California.
And this one was chomping at the bit to go. Then they find out that they have to wait a week or so and it nearly kills everyone involved.
But finally his turn has come, and he's off to not one, but TWO kindergartens. It'll be a wild ride this year!
