Sebi the Cub Scout: Blue and Gold Dinner

For the Father and Sons Cake Decorating Contest, Sebi decided to make a campfire cake. As the resident baker in the house, I have to say that the best thing about it was that he and Rob did all of it by themselves.
They made Shannon's chocolate torte as the base, some sort of on-the-fly frosting, then baked the flames by smashing up jolly ranchers and butterscotch candies and melting them in the oven (experience with gingerbread houses helped: 350 degrees for about 7 minutes).
The rest of it was all a matter of shopping with vision: swiss rolls for logs, jelly bean rocks, and a marshmallow being roasted on a pretzel. Didn't they do a great job?!
Here are the other scouts' cakes. Effusive, explosive, with a monster on top. Everything a cub scout should be!
This pair should go into business: I would hire them to bake cakes at our house1
Love the Teddy Grahams in their sleeping bags here. I've forgotten now what their campfire was made out of.
Sharks and penguins. It has a real cub scout flavor to it.
And calling it like it is. Here are links to two of Will's old cake decorating contests: 2010, and 2009.
