Saturday at the Park

People were understandably tired out on Saturday. Rob attended his conference. We stuck close to home until he came back. By then the kids were restless and fractious. But Fluffy went down for a nap and slept for two hours. We didn't leave on our adventure until 5pm, catching a bus nearby. We decided just to go check out a nice park we'd heard about in a section of town we didn't know well. It's called something like Turkhansepark and was a place where the Austrians fought the Turks back in the 14th-15th centuries. There are some nice ponds and a playground and a restaurant and lots of monied Viennese out exercising. This was unheard of in our sixth bezirk. We see people running up and down the Donaukanal where we are, though I have my suspicions that a lot of them are Americans or other foreigners.
Here is another video of Maddie and Will on playground equipment because it's easier to show than to explain. We had a picnic, the kids played, and then we rode home on the S-bahn and the U-bahn. Those are the ingredients of a successful outing: playground, food, and varying our modes of transportation.
